Guided Trip to Tampa Museum of Art with Ruth Grim
Ride with us as we venture across Florida to visit one of the premier arts institutions in the state, the Tampa Museum of Art! Your guide, curator Ruth Grim, will provide commentary and informative videos during the bus ride. In addition to experiencing TMA's many art installations, our group has the opportunity to take a docent-led tour and to enjoy lunch at one of the many nearby restaurants. Participants also may opt to bring their own lunch and enjoy the spaces surrounding the museum.
TMA has been a cultural mainstay on the Gulf coast for 100 years and has recently mounted an exciting group of exhibitions in celebration of their centennial. Some of these include Mysteries of the Nile: Ancient Egypt, Avant Garde: Remarkable Women in the Collection, The Etruscans: A Mysterious Italian People, and Life & Death in the Ancient World. Complete with extensive and informative labels and texts, these exhibitions provide a rare opportunity to experience and learn about ancient art in a Florida museum.
Our chartered bus will depart from OMAM promptly at 8:00am and will return back by 6:30pm. The non-refundable trip registration fee ($75 OMAM members; $85 future members) covers transportation and Ruth's discussions. Participants are responsible for paying for their own admission, tours, meals, and other expenses. Since the Tampa Museum of Art is part of the North American Reciprocal Museum (NARM) Association, our museum's premier-level members are able show their current OMAM Membership Card and receive free admission. Those without NARM benefits will need to pay admission upon arrival ($25 for adults; $15 for seniors).
