Every spring, Volusia Students Create showcases adjudicated artwork created by students from Kindergarten through Grade 12. Ormond Memorial Art Museum & Gardens is honored to host their 54th annual exhibit, which includes more than 120 artworks from 50+ schools throughout Volusia County.

Meet This Year's Judges
Laurie Gomon Ring of Daytona Beach, is a retired Volusia County Schools art educator and co-founder of the ArtHaus Foundation, an organization she helped establish in 1996 to showcase and support student art across the region. With a distinguished career dedicated to arts education, she has played a lasting role in enriching opportunities for young artists throughout Volusia County. Joining her is Monique Fischer of Port Orange, also a retired Volusia County Schools art educator, who has contributed extensively to visual arts instruction and student development during her teaching career.
Together, they bring decades of classroom experience, artistic leadership, and a deep commitment to fostering creativity in the next generation.
Visual Art in Volusia County Schools
Volusia County offers Visual Art Courses in all Schools from Pre-K through 12th grade. Every student in Volusia County Schools takes at least 6 years of Visual Art. We offer two-dimensional and three-dimensional Visual Art as electives in all our Middle and High Schools. Our Volusia County High Schools offer Level I and Level II two-dimensional and three-dimensional art courses which include drawing, painting, print making, mixed media and pottery/ceramics. All of Volusia County High Schools offer Honors Portfolio and Advanced Placement courses in Two-dimensional, Drawing and Three-Dimensional Visual art. Other advanced programs include International Baccalaureate Art and Cambridge AICE Art. Our Advanced Placement Art pass rates are among the highest in Florida. Volusia County Schools Art students and teachers participate in more than 15 County-Wide Adjudicated exhibitions throughout the year as well as more than 35 school-based Art Events. Our art students have some of the highest state and national art award rates in Florida.
