"Masters of Early 20th Century European Art" Lecture with Curator Ruth Grim
Early 20th century European art is one of the most expressive, vibrant periods in history. This is the era of Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Salvador Dali, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Egon Schiele, Wassily Kandinsky, Andre Derain and many of the most famous artists we recognize today. Responding to the horrors of two world wars, these artists brought jarring, bold, expressionist art to the forefront and for many of us living today they represent what we think of when we think of “Modern Art.” Join us for a journey through c. 1900-1945 and re-experience the art of many of your favorites as we examine what united them in their time as well as what set each of them apart. This 90-minute program is included with museum admission ($8 general; $5 seniors, college, and military with ID; $3 youth ages 6–17), but is completely FREE for current OMAM members and U.S. veterans.
