Drawing Hands for Beginners with Sylvia Gortz
Take the mystery out of drawing hands in this fun, beginner-friendly workshop designed to make one of the most challenging subjects much easier to understand. Students will learn how to break the hand down into simple shapes while exploring basic proportions, finger and thumb placement, knuckles, gesture and different hand positions. Through guided exercises and quick sketches, you’ll learn how to build a hand from the inside out rather than struggling with complicated outlines. Students will then explore light and shadow, adding simple shading and details to give their drawings depth and dimension. Using the techniques learned in class, each student will work step-by-step toward creating a more complete hand drawing while gaining skills that can be applied to future figure and portrait work. No previous drawing experience is necessary, and all supplies are included.
