Cherree Mallette
Pop-Up Exhibit - Reception Gallery: April 3-4, 2026
Meet the Artist!
Gallery Talk: Saturday, April 4, 2026 | 5:00pm
Work by Cherree Mallette will be on display and for sale inside our reception gallery during the April 4th First Saturday Ormond Art Walk. The artist will give a free talk at 5:00pm that explains how her artwork expresses, through visual storytelling, the healing energy of water.
“We transmit vibrations in sound through the words we speak. The movements of our actions radiate frequencies and tones, which the element of water responds to fluidly.”
The unique aspect of her work lies in its photographic realism, centered on mastering the transparency of water using oil paint on paper. Her method, painstakingly developed over time, lends her art a singular quality that blurs the line between painted creation and captured reality.
Admission to Art Walk is always FREE, and you can ride the complimentary shuttle to visit all stops. Beer and wine will be available for purchase inside the museum.
Artist Biography:
Cherree Mallette’s artistic vision is deeply rooted in her northeastern Ohio upbringing, where nature's subtle patterns first inspired her creativity. With a rich heritage of Spanish, French, and Slovakian influences, she grew up surrounded by an environment that nurtured her appreciation for beauty and detail. After earning her AA from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and a bachelor’s in Studio and Painting from the University of Pittsburgh in 1980, Cherree briefly studied at the Academy of Fine Art before launching her career as an illustrator. Her move to Florida expanded her skills in graphic arts and printmaking, leading to a transition into full-time painting after personal challenges. Her acclaimed series, "The Unknown to be Known," features photo-realistic black and white portraits that sparked community support for homeless shelters in Orlando. Later, inspired by Masaru Emoto’s work on water’s response to intention, she developed her "Splashparencies" series, blending photography and dry-brushed oil painting on paper. Cherree’s work is characterized by deliberate, layered techniques aimed at healing both viewers and the environment. Her art has been recognized with awards, solo exhibitions, and collection by notable figures including Disney’s Dick Nunus. Influenced by artists like Vincent van Gogh and Chuck Close, as well as musicians who inspire her synesthetic approach, she incorporates a rich cultural tapestry into her practice. Beyond painting, Cherree is a musician, swimmer, and committed advocate for art as a tool for healing and environmental stewardship, aspiring to establish a gallery devoted to peace and renewal
Artist Statement:
Creating my art feels like visiting the beach, where each moment reveals new discoveries and emotions. When a piece is finished, I feel pride in transforming an empty space into something calming and refreshing. Water has always been my closest companion, offering comfort and renewal when I am alone. I am drawn to scenes that challenge me to capture the light and transparency of water using oil paint. My goal is to portray water’s smooth fluidity without broken lines. Water symbolizes life and teaches me something new every day. I imagine my art displayed in gallery spaces that serve as peaceful retreats for reflection and healing. A portion of my sales supports ocean cleanup organizations to help protect our waters. My technique focuses on achieving perfect transparency with a brushwork-free oil paint approach on paper. Years of practice allow me to create images so smooth and realistic they almost resemble photographs.
