"Bringing Your Art to Life" 2-Day Workshop with Barbara Saunders
Bring life and movement into your artwork during this two-session workshop with Barbara Crispino Saunders, by learning how to incorporate a figure into a landscape. Students will be given instruction in interpreting the individual in the lifelike style “contrapposto” (the counterpose ), invented by the Greeks to imbue life into static human form. Once learned, this technique can be applied to the human form or animals to create a more dynamic composition.
The challenges and joys of Plein Air will also be addressed in the OMAM gardens as a part of this workshop. During the workshop students will meet in the OMAM classroom on Day 1 and then move to the beautiful OMAM gardens for Day 2 to create outdoors. Plein Air painting is a challenge, so much to carry, where to set up, dealing with the great outdoors! The famous Europeans and American painters spent all winter in studio, waiting patiently to get outdoors and finally experience the light and colors. Bright, subtropical surroundings offered these master artists fresh inspiration and lessons in shape, form, value and perspective that they couldn’t discover inside. We’re in Florida, so let's go outdoors!
