Ormond Memorial Art Museum and Gardens now
operates two outreach programs so Volusia and Flagler Counties school students
can have a hands-on, up-close art experience. ArtReach Summer Art Camp has
been a staple of the Museum's student art immersion program since at least 2001.
Now the Museum's VanGo program adds a whole new dimension to the Museum's art
offerings during the school year.
ArtReach Summer Art Camp
ArtReach Summer Art Camp runs for four weeks
each summer. Students of ages six through twelve can enroll in all four
weeks, or just the week or weeks in which they have a particular interest. Art
instruction and production ranges from sketching, painting, sculpting,
photography, singing, dancing and acting. Museum staff and visiting
artists work to build skills and confidence in the student artists. A
final presentation to parents and the community closes the final week of
ArtReach Summer Art Camp, and lets the students show off their newly acquired
skills.
Art Reach 2009 classes will be held
Monday through Friday of each week from 9:30am to 1:00pm. Cost is
$100.00 per week for Museum members and $110.00 for non-members.
Students should be from 6-12 years years old.
June 15 through June 19, 2009 Planet Protectors - students learn
drawing, painting and sculpture fundamentals while practicing the
artists role as environmentalist
June 22 through 26, 2009 Proud to Be an American - What is
American Art? Students explore iconic American Artists, create patriotic
and personally stylized American images in watercolor, acrylic and
pastel.
July 6 through July 10, 2009 Project Runway - Student designers
create Jewelry, Handbags & Clothing - culminates in a student produced
fashion show.
July 13 through July 17, 2009 The Toy Shop Construction Zone -
Hand-building with clay, wood, and varied materials in creating take
home sculpture, mobiles, architecture, and toys.
