March 18, 2005 through April 24, 2005 The Ormond Memorial Art Museum and Gardens proudly presents an exhibition of three collage artists, Patricia DiBona, Holly Hambrick, and Gretchen Neal. Ms. Neal, a native of Winter Park, has curated the trios' show entitled, "Collage à Trois", which will open to the public on Saturday, March 19, 2005. Ms. Neal, who alternates residences between Atlanta, GA and Ormond Beach, has been involved in graphic arts and teaching for over twenty five years. Among other pursuits, she is currently developed a line of inspired handbags and will return this summer for her eighth year as director of the summer art program at the Casement Cultural Center in Ormond Beach. Patricia DiBona, an award winning artist and teacher, owns and operates a full service Bookart Studio/store and production facility in Roswell, Georgia. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts and the Portfolio Center of Atlanta, she has focused much of her energy on the subject of Book Art through collage, specialty papers, accordion books, embellishments and digital CD's. Holly Hambrick, a resident of Ormond Beach, is self taught and has received awards at the Coconut Grove and Winter Park Art Festivals. She has had exhibitions at The Gainesville Center of Modern Art, Mt. Dora Center for the Arts, Florida Craftsman, and University of Miami Polk Museum among a number of other credits. The collage artist is often interested in reflecting the world around them as a complex interplay of ideas. Unlike the realist, concerned with reflecting the world in it's own terms or the surrealist, often revealing their emotional reaction to it, the collage artist focuses on commingling elements. The results are often vividly engaging from the standpoint of composition and color. They can also be intellectually riveting in their obtuse and mind-bending nature, or beautiful and serene in their harmonious character. The opening reception is Friday, March 18, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at the Museum. Museum members, artists and their guests are invited to attend. The Museum staff is happy to accommodate media outlets by arranging artist/curator interviews or photo, film, and video shoot schedules with advance notice. Contact Museum Director, Ann Burt, at (386) 676-3347 for more information. Museum hours are Monday-Friday 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday 12:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. Seniors (60+), students and children are admitted to the Museum free of charge every day; a $2 donation is suggested for adult visitors.
