Derived from Wood

November 17, 2003 through January 4, 2004

Ormond Memorial Art Museum and Gardens presents "Derived from Wood", an exhibition featuring a variety of artwork with wood as the primary medium.

The following local artists are participants in this exhibition:

bullet Larry Buccini
bullet George Buchanan
bullet Bernard Goldstein
bullet Tom Ritzi

The following artists of national and international repute are also participating:

bullet Dennis Elliott
bullet David Engdahl
bullet Aaron Hussey
bullet Lita Kelmenson
bullet Jack King
bullet Sean Ohrenich
bullet Rachel Stewart

This show spotlights wood as an artistic medium, subject to modification by carving, turning, burning, and lamination.  Wood's natural warmth and irregularities are transformed into sleek, graceful 3-D works of art as various technological processes are used to convert the medium.

Artist/Architect David David Engdahl, whose work is represented in this page's title bar, will discuss his concepts and methods during an Artist Encounter / Gallery Talk on Sunday, December 7, 2003 at 2:00pm at the Museum.  Dessert and coffee will be served.

The opening reception for "Derived from Wood" will be held at the Museum on Friday, November 14, 2003, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Museum members, artists and their guests are invited to attend.
