This show spotlights wood as an artistic medium, subject to modification by carving, turning, burning, and lamination. Wood's natural warmth and irregularities are transformed into sleek, graceful 3-D works of art as various technological processes are used to convert the medium. Artist/Architect David David Engdahl, whose work is represented in this page's title bar, will discuss his concepts and methods during an Artist Encounter / Gallery Talk on Sunday, December 7, 2003 at 2:00pm at the Museum. Dessert and coffee will be served. The opening reception for "Derived from Wood" will be held at the Museum on Friday, November 14, 2003, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
