Performance & Movie in the Ormond Memorial Garden
Viewed on a 31' x 28' screen

The Ormond Memorial Art Museum and Gardens will present a Halloween showing of the 1953 cult classic by director Jack Arnold2, "It Came From Outer Space" on Wednesday, October 31 at 7:00 p.m. on the Museum grounds.

Released in May 1953, "It Came from Outer Space" was based on the book of the same name by Ray Bradbury.  The screenplay was written by Harry Essex, and the musical score to the movie was by the un-credited Henry Mancini.

The movie features actors Richard Carlson and Barbara Rush as John Putnam and Ellen Fields.  Here is a brief overview:

John Putnam and Ellen [Fields] watch a great fireball going down near a mine. Both are the only ones who believe the "thing" not to be a meteor but an alien starship. In the following days people disappear and return, obviously being manipulated in a strange way. After a while the sheriff becomes distrustful. He and his men enter the mine. But Putnam hopes to reach a peaceful solution and enters the starship ...

Synopsis written by Christian Wenger

The evening includes costume contests with children and adults prizes, Halloween candy, food, spirits and giveaways.  The movie, in collaboration with Cinematique is shown on a 30' screen and is followed by a dramatic reading by J. Walker Fischer of Edgar Allen Poe's, The Mask of the Red Death.

Cost: $5.00 movie entry - please bring lawn chair.  Cash bar. Entertainment, raffles, contests, food and drink
