Malcolm Fraser Gallery Introduction

This series of fifty-six original paintings, the central theme of which is: SPIRIT IS LIFE'S ONLY SIGNIFICANT REALITY, was presented to the City of Ormond Beach, Florida, by the artist as a War Memorial to those who served in World Wars One and Two. The series represents fifty years of work by the artist.

INTRODUCTION

Feeling deeply the supremacy of blood and iron as law of life is a failure; and that the survival of the fittest in the usually accepted sense is not the law of life, but rather that life exists by proper protection and believing the great privilege of human life to be the construction of a better environment for the new life to develop in, and appreciating that everywhere men face such an equalizing of human rights as seemed remote but yesterday -- a readjustment of the only values that are real and lasting, I have painted these canvases with the hope that they may stimulate thought toward the necessity of a better environment to surround life yet to come.

Malcolm Fraser

Mr. Fraser's paintings have been divided into four 'galleries' according to the catalogue that accompanied the original exhibition. Gallery A depicts the complete cycle of Creation, the fall of man, his redemption and final victory through cooperation with Cosmic law. A complete tour of Gallery A is recommended before visiting the other three.

The pictures in galleries B, C and D are not presented in numerical sequence as the message in each painting is complete, yet has a definite bearing on the central theme of the entire series -- SPIRIT IS LIFE'S ONLY SIGNIFICANT REALITY.
