Ormond Memorial Art Museum & Gardens' 2003 ArtReach Summer Art Camp, starts June 16, 2003. and continues throughout the summer for a total of four weeks. The program is designed for children entering Grades 1 through 6. Children may participate in all four weeks or enroll for individual weeks, depending on their interests and schedule. ArtReach Summer Art Camp features small class sizes, with 3 to 4 instructors per session. Camp runs Monday through Friday each week from 9:30am to 1:00pm. Art instructors for ArtReach Summer Art Camp 2003 include Kristina Wright, Linda King and Regina Stengel. Barb Saunders will join the instructional staff during Week 4 as the drama instructor. ArtReach Summer Art Camp 2003 culminates in an Art in the Atrium at Ormond Beach City Hall exhibition. The opening reception for the artists and their families will be held Friday, July 25, 2003, from 5:00pm to 6:30pm. Mark your calendars! Each student from every session will have at least one work exhibited. The cost per week for Museum members is $75 per child or $85 per child for non-members. Scholarships are available on an "as-needed" basis. Contact the Museum at (386) 676-3347 for scholarship information. Registration forms, scholarship applications or additional information may be obtained from the Museum staff between 10:00am and 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. ArtReach Summer Art Camp Class Schedule Week 1 : June 16 through June 20, 2003 Examining the self and others, we will paint, draw and sculpt 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional self-portraits and portraits of friends, family, celebrities and others. Week 2: June 23 through June 27, 2003 This week emphasizes our environment where we will discover our land, seas and cities from an artist's perspective. Using several types of painting, drawing and mixed-media techniques, we will be creating landscapes, seascapes, and cityscapes. Week 3: July 14 through July 18, 2003 Exploring the contrast between natural and man-made objects, we will learn about the still life using a variety of unique methods. Each student will create his or her own still life which will evolve throughout the week. Week 4: July 21 through July 25, 2003 Under the guidance of Theatre Director, Barb Saunders, we will explore how the visual arts are practiced in the theatre and focus on a mini-play featuring an intriguing period of art. There will be a performance on the final day. Activities will include painting backdrops, props and costumes.
