"Bringing Back the
Memories" The City of Ormond Beach will be partnering with local civic organizations to help restore portions of the Gardens damaged by the recent hurricanes. This project will focus on the area surrounding the Wedding Gazebo where about 100 ceremonies take place each year -- including one just several hours before Hurricane Jeanne came to town. The Museum and Gardens were established as a tribute to members of our armed forces. The restoration will be a way for the community to remember our soldiers of wars past, while honoring those currently fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Gardens, where families can enjoy a slice of nature in downtown Ormond Beach, boast the Peacock Fountain designed by Mary Aldrich Fraser, and a beautiful waterfall, donated by Charles and Linda Williams. The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 23 at 8:00 a.m. Call Ormond Beach Neighborhood Improvement at 676-3352 for more information. If you are unable to volunteer your time, the following is a list of items needed for this project:
The Gardens were built by volunteers, so please help continue that tradition by joining this effort.
Many thanks to all the volunteers who devoted their time and efforts to "Make a Difference" on October 23, 2004. Your fine work laid the foundation for a new version of The Gardens, which will be the legacy for the next generation of visitors.
